AFJOG Hepatitis-C Clinic: With Hepatitis C assuming epidemic proportions in Pakistan AFJOG decided to start a liver clinic at AMRC in Lahore. This clinic started on 13th Dec 2010 at AMRC every Monday. This programme was carefully planned to run simultaneously in three phases.

AFJOG has a vast and well established network of outreach medical clinics within 50 km radius of Lahore. At these clinics nearly 25000 patients are seen annually. Our main centre “Akhtar Mubarik Refferal” Centre caters to more then 45000 patients annually. We started our awareness and prevention programme at these centers.

Young Doctors and volunteers specially trained for the hepatitis C prevention programme were sent weekly to these different clinics where after lectures and demonstrations leaflets were handed out. Answer / Question sessions were encouraged.

HCV Test kits were sent out with the Teams and some on the spot tests carried out. The positive patients were referred to AMRC on Monday. With our already established network we have a population of 70,000 people who will be covered once our videofilm is ready or if we can get one then our programme will extend to schools… +more
